of worms

the brownies look great, and am finally sitting down properly in front of the computer screen blogging... like i should have been doing quite a few hours ago. suffice to say, something unexpected came up. not to mention unfortunate and (sadly) unnecessary. hence the trip to the hospital at 1.30a.m. in an ambulance.

honestly, i thought the entire occurrence which caused me to have approximately zero sleep the night before (explains the crankiness) was avoidable. it all started with her knocking on my door, and coughing. ended the phone call with jeremy to
layan her. she was coughing violently, and getting a little hysterical. at first i just comforted her (based on previous experiences) but then she coughed up some blood, so i went ahead with her request and asked the receptionist to call the ambulance.

accompanied her there, only to be sent to the waiting room for AGES. she is well known amongst the night hospital staff. they know her as the girl who frequently checked herself in because worms are infesting her insides and crawling upward into her brain. sorry to say, but the matter appeared to be purely psychological after observing her for a while. insisting that worms were coming out her nostrils and giving out screams every once in a while; altogether behaving like a complete nervous wreck due to the worms, existent or otherwise...

love thy neighbour as thyself... this verse i repeated to myself many times throughout the night till we were finally ushered into the doctor's room at 5.30a.m. the doctor actually KNEW her. from about a month ago, she admitted herself for the same reason. really, i don't doubt she actually feels the worms, but i do think it's all in the mind. how else can the head scan, blood tests and still culture results be normal and healthy?

after lots of cajoling and "deep breaths, just take a deep breath and calm down..." and some anxiety pills from the doctor and psychiatrist, we were free to leave the hospital at 6.40a.m.. it was so freaking cold the whole night, AND this morning, thank god i grabbed my thick sweater before jumping into the ambulance. neglecting my shoes however, proved a horrible mistake. walking around high street looking for a stupid bus (bus 370 only passed high st. at 8, growl...) with my flip flops was a BAD experience, especially after a cold, sleepless night spent in the company of some other drunkards in the waiting room and an almost unmanageable girl.

at least she calmed down somewhat after ingesting some pill from the doctor (anti-depressant or whatever) and we managed to get home via a taxi which cost me $6.40. hmmph. finished doing my laundry since i was halfway through last night when we had to leave suddenly. proceeded to make brownies for tonight, and now i feel like my eyes have sandpaper on them. one good thing is: the doctors are absolutely sure she has no worms. at this news i breathed a sigh of relief, as i earlier suffered the worry that the contagious condition would spread to me. NOT a nice feeling, thinking about parasites whose eggs are inhaled into the lungs, where the larvae bursts out of the capillaries and goes up into the esophagus and subsequently down into the intestines; proceeding to mature into 5cm long bloodsuckers having a field day within yourself. *shudders*

time to fold my laundry. next post: pictorial update on the auspicious attainment of ADULT status by a certain fellow called tim. ta!

do not be anxious about anything, but by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests unto the Lord. and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
